Biography Laura Coffey Ieremia represents physicians, healthcare facilities and lawyers in both the appellate and trial courts. She has experience in defending clients from inception of the case through trial in professional liability lawsuits. An integral part of the appellate practice at the firm, Ms. Ieremia has assisted in obtaining successful outcomes for clients in cases involving the interpretation of the federal Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005 and the Illinois Voluntary Health Services Plans Act. At the trial level, Ms. Ieremia handled the briefing and oral argument that resulted in the Honorable William Gomolinski’s decision declaring unconstitutional a statutory amendment that limited trials in civil cases to a six-person jury, a decision the Illinois Supreme Court upheld on appeal. Ms. Ieremia joined the firm as an associate in 2014 after graduating magna cum laude from The John Marshall Law School. During law school, Ms. Ieremia worked as a law clerk for firms that focused on professional negligence, product liability, and FELA litigation. At John Marshall, Ms. Ieremia actively participated in the Moot Court Honors Program where she served as an Associate Justice on the Moot Court Honors Board as well as participated in the Rendigs Product Liability and Chicago Bar Association moot court competitions. Ms. Ieremia earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2008.
